Well, it's time to get back to this!

Sorry, my legions! While I have neglected you, I never forgot you! Or at least, I never meant to forget you even though I totally forgot about you!

Anyway, my life is starting to level out, so perhaps fewer of these entries will be pity-me whinefests. And there will be more of them. I'm still taking Mary Jo's classes, and they are great. I'm working on a killer new charcoal drawing. I have several great oil pastels over at Robert Lowery's being made into prints. I have a sweet new lady. Athica is having a closing on the fourth for one of the best shows I've been a part of. And it's our 5th birthday.

That'll do for now. Talk to you cats next week!

Oh, and look for news about Art Akimbo!

I am working a _lot_ right now. I've pretty much drawn or painted every day for about a month. This is as opposed to my historical rate of 3-4 days a week. It is good. I feel like a monk.

Mary Jo

Right now I'm taking a painting class from Mary Jo Vandiver at Elements Art Supply. It's very traditional stuff -- we painted silk flowers and fruit, and now we're doing the figure -- but it's just what I needed. She's teaching me a lot about color mixing, which is where I'm stupid. Just a little instruction goes a long way. When coupled with -- and I'm not above flattering myself here -- some talent and the discipline of drawing 3-4 times a week for 15 years. I've had a hellish year and it's not over yet. Stick with me, though, I'll see it through.

Okay! Blog again Blog again, all the way home.

Hello again, my faithful nonexistent fan base. I'm afraid I've been cheating on you with myspace.com. Anyway, I've been busy. Me and Ann are splitting, I'm working off my DUI, and planning and plotting. Soon I will have a motor on my bicycle from Golden Eagle Bicycle Engines. I'll let you know how that goes. Let me say in advance, it is going to be awesome. 2.2 hp, 40cc geared belt-driven tanaka 2-stroke. I should be able to do 30+ mph on the flat. As I said, awesome. And I don't need a license. I figure it's a good prelude to the ultralight aircraft I'm going to be able to build one day since Ann can't say 'no' anymore. It's like they say, if you leave a pretty corpse you weren't really living.

Currently I'm working off my DUI hours at Athica here in Athens. We're going to do a mini-comic show in concert with the Fluke mini-comic festival here in town. It's going to look awesome -- come out next weekend!

It's kind of inspired me to get started doing my own web/mini comic. Going to be called 'The Illiterates'. It'll be full of my drawings, little inks done specifically for the comic. I think the first issue will be 'Cats like Birds'

Artist Benefit Art Auction Update!

Hey hey hey! The art auction (and yard sale) is a go! The date is the 25th, from 3-5 pm. I'll have light refreshments, of course. In the morning I'm going to have a yard sale. We're talking a pretty serious clean up of my personal space. I've been accumulating far more than I need, of everything. And of course, I draw too much. Even as I'm selling out as much as I can at this sale, I have 3 pics in the works. One is an ecstatic sinner/saint digging up a jug of moonshine. It's got really strong dark-light contrasts and is very painterly. By painterly, I mean I was kinda drunk and punched elbowed and axe kicked it a bunch. Nevertheless, I think it's cool. Haven't looked at it sober yet.

Artist Benefit Art Auction

It's time. This is an idea I've been kicking around for a while. On Saturday February 11th, it takes wings. In the morning, I'm going to have a yard sale, fairly traditional. Most of my books, some of the furniture I've built and other bric-a-brac will be for sale. All of my art and Roxanne Abell's as well will be on display. Starting around 2, people can start bidding on the art. We'll see what happens!

Vacation Over!

Well, I'm sure you've been waiting with baited breath, my mobs of internet fans, while I was on vacation. "Vacation, you say? How could you afford such a tony affair as to be off work, presumably for more than one weekend?" Hah! Tricked you! it was a half-vacation, occupying only the hours I was off from Farm Electric. Yes, i still got overtime every week, but that was all I did. That and play computer games on my newly rebuilt PC.

I'm not sure where my next show will be, aside from Phoenix, but I really need to stage an Artist Benefit Art Auction at the end of the month to pay for my DUI fine (yup, I'm an idiot). Look for details on that soon.

Also, i FINALLY figured out how to use my printing press. Linographs will be added to my portfolio in great number. It will be awesome, and you will buy them.
